hexTerminator: hrng, something's off about the way the lines are handled here, comparing to your last drawing these lines look spick and span in an odd way

- Reply
Radiocaster: Is it perhaps based on an existing picture?

- Reply
Zoltier: Isn't this AI?
- Reply
kfpTigress_Simp: This looks sus

NotGodOkay: @kfpTigress_Simp: Yeah I actually think this might be AI too. Maybe edited so it wouldn't be way too obvious as well.

Radiocaster: It's not very clockable, but there are some weird things about it. What's up with her pointy bat ears? Why are the pixel elements scaled so poorly? Why is there shading on her neck but nowhere else? Why is the color bleeding onto the shovel? What do the motion lines to the left convey? Why does it look so different to the one original work that Mahyar has posted previously? Most line gaps are excusable, but what about the huge one on the side of her head? How can I trust the uploader who has uploaded AI stuff to the booru before? I'm not calling it, but it's not a great look.

hexTerminator: the pointy bat ears are actually in the previous drawing so it just looks to be a Mahyar deal there

Solus7: @hexTerminator: Yeah, there's a chance it could be vector art.

Mahyar: Some users seem to think this is AI, so I wanted to clear things up.

My older art was messy, but I changed my workflow, learned more, and started using better tools over time. A cleaner result doesn't mean it was made by AI.

Katia, the shovel, and the soil mound were all drawn by me. The only AI-generated elements are the Windows 95 window and the text.

I have no reason to fake this. I just made it for fun.

So I'll say it clearly: this is not AI.

Radiocaster: Really? You used AI for that? Seriously? I should be mad but I think I've just gone fully numb

- Reply
XyDark: Y'know. I feel like if you're willing to use AI to make what is arguably the easiest part of the image, it'll just make people more suspicious of the actual drawing being AI.

- Reply
Mahyar: I didn’t commit a sex crime against a cat.
I just made a simple window and some text with AI.
Don’t bust my balls over it.

- Reply
Mahyar: But seriously, I have no reason to fake this. There’s nothing for me to gain from it. I made this because I enjoy drawing and just wanted to have fun with it.

And honestly, I actually want to improve my drawing skills. If I just used AI to draw the whole thing for me, I wouldn’t be improving my own skills at all. What’s the point of drawing if I’m not the one learning and getting better?

- Reply
Radiocaster: You used AI for the simplest, most straightforward part of the image, didn't bother to disclose that usage at all before we called you out for it, and you're confused as to why we might find that to be dishonest and lazy? Your statements about wanting to improve your own skill ring hollow when you deflect criticism and continue to use AI for things that don't even make any sense to use it for. Going down your same line of logic, why use AI to make a simple background when you could easily learn how to do it yourself, thereby improving your skills more efficiently?

- Reply
Mahyar: @Radiocaster: I used AI for that trivial element because I didn’t consider it worth the extra time. If I wanted AI to do the actual drawing for me, I could have done exactly that, but I didn't.

I never claimed that absolutely every pixel was made manually. I said the artwork itself was mine, and I clarified which elements were AI-generated when users asked.

And honestly, what difference does it make whether the source of that background was some random website, a forgotten computer sitting in my garage, or AI? At the end of the day, the fucking background is still the background.

- Reply
Radiocaster: It's about the principle of the thing. You fail to understand the point being made about the background's simplicity. You could have made it manually, I could have made it manually, anyone here could have made it manually, so why didn't you? Why did you take a controvserial shortcut when the real thing would have not only been good and easy pratice, but would also avoid this entire issue in the first place? You have nothing to gain and something to lose by using it for something so unimportant in such an uncaring manner. And at the end of the day, no matter what justification you give, you can't argue against the clear negative effects caused by the trillion-dollar AI industry that you show complacency with by using their services. The polluting datacenters being forced into our communities, the countless stolen artworks and images that us artists never consented to, the displacement of people's real talent and effort, the degredation of people's mental health and work ethic as they now have unadulterated access to a digital yes-man that you so kindly demonstrate is apparently hard to get away from. Your logic is inconsistent and your disdain is pitiful, have a nice day.

Radiocaster: I also find it rich that this image is licensed as CC-BY. Did you add that tag yourself, Mahyar? Do you think that means that an AI service using your image as part of their dataset should credit you? Because let me tell you, they don't, and that means you have no way of crediting whatever image it pulled from either. How does the saying go? Rules for thee, but not for me?

Mahyar: @Radiocaster: Do you want me to remove the background and upload only the part I actually drew myself so you'll stop busting my balls about it?

- Reply
Radiocaster: That would be a step in the right direction

Mahyar: @Radiocaster: Ok

Radiocaster: I'd even be willing to teach you how to remake the background manually if you're interested

NotGodOkay: I think Mahyar is suffering from Narcissism or are egocentric. It's enough for him to tell himself that laziness is rewarding.

hexTerminator: blegh, reading walls of text is kind of an eyesore at times in this site.
out of curiosity, did you Include the Original Image when asking the AI for the background, and that's why the lines look like they were made by an AIs brush¿? if not, what kind of brush and art program was used to make this¿?
