GrizzlyBear: Finally got around to making some prequel stuff
- Reply Took me a while to figure out why "Katia´s wizard robe" has only 2 results on the site. It's "Katia's wizard robe", not "Katia’s wizard robe". Still can't see the difference? I don't blame you. It's the apostrophe. ' vs ’. A bit funny, if you ask me. - Reply Anyway, nice art! Even if I hate Minions with a passion.

GrizzlyBear: @Zargothrax: Oh, thanks for catching that. Might have to fix the other while I’m at it, it’s the first result on the drop down box and more people will probably hit it without realizing

GrizzlyBear: Actually nvm no it isn’t, still it’s patched up now

GrizzlyBear: My other entry, made in a hurry and it shows in a few places, but I’m mostly happy with it. The empress normally represents maternal influence, fertility, and abundance. Nothing too “maternal” about Sigrid, but I was able to connect a few things, like the scepter that is held by the empress represents her power over life, like Sigrid’s perfume and enchantments are used to hold power over the people of Kvatch. In a way she is their empress, even influencing politics in her favor. The empress also has a connection to nature, and nature seems to associated with the illusion Sigrid puts people under, with the fawn, butterflies, and so on which I always assumed weren’t literal in the comic. Lastly the empress card usually depicts a field of grain which represents a bountiful harvest and abundance, in this case the heaps of gold she cons out of people.

- Reply Obviously I took some liberties here. Originally I was going to have her robed, but... well. I'm bluedraggy I guess. Represents:Desirability, unattainability, mystery, sensuality, spirituality, thirst for knowledge, mystery, subconscious, higher power, creativity, fertility When finished, I wasn't going to actually use this in the tarot since it might be considered too questionable. However, after some persuasion decided to go for it - but only uncensored as, imho, any High Priestess isn't going to bow to morality, she sets morality. Censored in the group collage made sense though. I didn't want the whole thing to get a questionable tag if avoidable. But I feel like holding firm on keeping her uncensored here as I think it's kind of important to what she represents. Symbols: Crescent Moon under her feet connects to the horned cow goddess Hathor and the maiden stage of the maiden/mother/crone goddess archetype. Flowing robe symbolizes the flow of life, water, tides, the blue of it indicates intuition, active and passive forces as well as higher learning. The pillars are normally black(B) and white(J) but instead I chose to invert the ridges to separate them so one is concave, the other convex. The B and J stand for Boaz and Jachin - the two front columns of Solomon's Temple. The pomegranate in the curtain behind her represents the female or feminine principle. The palm leaves represent the male or masculine principle. The equal-armed cross was a 4th century religious symbol but more inclusinve and mystical representation than the typical Latin cross. Other symbols I've chosen to leave off. And maybe add the symbol on her throne. It represents catgirls with boobs and tails. :) As for the pose, any similarity between it and a scene from Basic Instinct is entirely intentional. As for why Ra'jirra... well, she does represent a balance of dark and light - which is evidenced by her still controversial story arc. Plus she's a hottie. - Reply - Reply - Reply - Reply |

GrizzlyBear: Decided to do one of the left over cards from the project, kinda went all out on it, except towards the background. The Justice card means exactly what you think it means, law, fairness, accountability for actions, and karmic justice. It often indicates that you or someone in your life isn’t being treated fairly, and you will eventually face trail for that injustice. Using Asotil was pretty much a no-brainer, but in doing that most of its symbolism ended up absent, but I kept the basic things at least. The scale he holds is a symbol of balance and fairness, while his sword represents the enactment and preservation of Justice, even through force. The Imperial city and the aylied archway on either side of Asotil weren’t originally supposed to be the pillars from the actual card, was pretty much a coincidence but eh I’ll take it. That’s pretty much all there is to it really, wasn’t too complicated to connect to the original like some of the others were

GrizzlyBear: @Zargothrax: Yeah it took me only four days, but I’m still stuck in quarantine so I had plenty of time to work on it. I tried to be less cartoony and more oblivion accurate and I think it paid off, his thigh could’ve been a little longer though
