Radiocaster: Decided to go for a different comic structure for this little side-story. Let me know if you guys love it or hate it. It's nice because I don't have to make a full-size image for every little expression, and it's generally more compact. I might use a similar thing for future updates unless people really want me to keep steali- er I mean, doing it in PREQUEL's style. For what it's worth, I didn't really intend to "continue" PREQUEL, just tell a different kind of story in a deliberately alternate timeline. Also because it's kind of weird to fan-continue a story that still gets updates.
Be mindful of the little things always scurrying about... hiding around corners...
Radiocaster: @Yeltsa_Kcir: I'm from the future, it's been seven years, there has been three new updates in that time, the spider did a hula-hoop trick, lamented over the popularity of house cats, and then taught the audience how to play Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, third movement. What a great time.
Radiocaster: We would have changed the definition, but "No updates that proceed or influence the plot or characters in a timely manner" wouldn't fit in the frame.
Radiocaster: I love those mods that screw up your controls when you drink too much alcohol. It truly is the ultimate Katia Managan roleplay experience. Now all we need now is a blackout function that teleports you to a random location
Radiocaster: A one Katia Managan was last seen arguing with an Imperial soldier over whether or not pilfering coins from the Take A Penny, Leave A Penny tray is actually considered stealing.
Radiocaster: @FOXY_BONNIE: In the original comic it was 24, so let's just compromise and say that it was a 24-pack at one point previous to this moment in time being captured.
Radiocaster: In the PREQUEL universe, a 24 pack of sweetrolls counts as a meal, chocolate cake is dryer than the sands of Elsweyr, and alcoholism is more unavoidable than it was in pre-prohibition America. No wonder why they haven't invented steam engines yet.
Radiocaster: Math tells us that "One" is actually a range of decimal values from anywhere between 0 and 1. Therefore, Katia did indeed touch exactly one, it's just that "one" represented one pile.
Radiocaster: Sometimes the nightmare doesn't wait to stare back, for it has already seen everything worth seeing. It might also be because you woke it up while it was trying to sleep, weird how that works.
Don't ask me why Aggy keeps changing shades of blue... Okay, it's because I keep accidentally saving over my project files and I don't know what his official colors are, he just be like that.
Radiocaster: The fateful reunion. Just kidding, I don't believe in fate. It's mostly due to strange luck-based gravitation and the mythical phenomeon known as "plot convenience".
Radiocaster: I swear I'm going to draw that rock getting struck by lightning or destroyed by an industrial digger or ticketed for bouldering in a no-rock zone
Radiocaster: Ah well, no more fire stick. Just when I started getting good at drawing it too!
The animations were very ambitious this time around, except for the last two which were honestly very low priority. I think the hardest (and most satisfying) one was the bottle spinning, though the control panel was the most time-consuming. The next page will probably be less complicated just to spare my poor hands.
I've been listening to a lot of music from Hexen II recently. It's the kind of music I would usually listen to while reading webcomics, so it's kinda funny to listen to it while drawing webcomics.
As always, feel free to leave commands in the comments.
Radiocaster: Just a doodle as a break from the comic. I've been listening to Viva La Vida a lot and it made me think of the count from Kvatch who had like, one joke scene in a flash game lol. I drew Rajirra too since I don't think most people are going to remember Count Goldwine. She makes a good barbarian though. Maybe he's found an heir after all.
So this will go on for longer than I thought because I've been having a lot of fun making it. I'm also still taking commands and I may use old ones too, don't worry.
This 'update' originally started out like the one before it as all one GIF. Eventually the scope of what I wanted to do with the animations grew way too large to keep it all on the same timer, so I'll now be splitting them up into one GIF per panel. They'll be a little awkward to read (remember that you can click on them to make them bigger!) since I have to cram most of the panels in the comment section. The source leads to the Newgrounds upload which might be easier to read. If anyone has any suggestions for a place to put this comic to make it more accessible I'm all ears.
Fun fact, the "dragonbreak protocol" was originally gonna be part of a dropped plot about Katia meeting an alternate universe, irrationally angry version of herself and then they would all go out and play bowling or something. I don't know, it doesn't make sense to me either. She was also going to keep a diary, since I also considered making more self-contained stories and it would have made a convenient way to group them together, but we'll just pretend that didn't happen since I accidentally made something too interesting not to follow up on.
Living in fear, living afraid, hysterical every day; all because I let your poison paralyze me.
Radiocaster: Katia hides her fear by being caught in the moment, impressing her magic prowess on those who look on. Quill-Weave hides her fear with her expert poker face and steel-forged responsibility. They thing they're scared of is eachother, by the way.
For some reason I keep thinking of evil Quill-Weave as being like Willy Wonka, but instead of making chocolate, she makes laminated pineapple carcass "Along came a spider that sat down beside her and said 'What's in the bowl, bitch?'"
Radiocaster: FP hasn't been active here since 2019. Wouldn't surprise me if they don't even know about it. I think community opinion is important too in this case; don't think I need to reiterate how I feel about it, anyway.
Radiocaster: @plum: There sure is a lot of unexplainable artifacts, and the fact that it's been bitcrushed to cairn and back, has some pretty nonsensical anatomy in places (don't remember Katia's rear being a wedge, nor do I remember the arc where she lost a finger on her left hand), and that there's no source or even an artist tag, AND that the uploader has never uploaded something of this quality... You've a point, something isn't adding up here.
