Much like art itself, the featured masterpiece is subjective to what the mods decide should fill that role. It's not any different than what gets labeled questionable or what even gets deleted.

Yes, there are lots of deserving art here that is not given a fair shot, but that's too bad. I doubt that was the aim of the artist in the first place, to be a "featured masterpiece". It is just a fun extra feature that is not important or with discussing. Sometimes the role will be filled by a shitty pumpkin that took 20 minutes, or art that took weeks to make. None of it matters. So just relax, everyone.
