The weapon in question looks to be a lee-enfield rifle number 4 MK1. Developed 1938, it differed vary little from the model it replaced. The bolt and receiver are modified, and the rear sight was a new design. The fore stock is shortened exposing the muzzle (though we can't see it in this shot). The number 4 remained in service with the UK until 1954. |
