AMKitsune: Nice little runner(?) game here.
One thing though if I may. While the beginning of the game is fine, as it speeds up, the framerate of 24fps can make the obstacle movement feel choppy and harder to react to than it otherwise could be. Now, I don't know whether in this case the framerate is limited by the game engine you're using of by flash's performance, but for reaction based games like this, generally speaking the higher the achievable framerate, the better. 60's generally considered the ideal 'goal' for game fps, but even 30 (an increase of 6) would probably yield some noticeable difference. Just a little something to consider for next time.
AMKitsune: To begin with, I thought it was the 4 fingers of a giant, upturned hand overflowing with small yellow cats. A quick google image search later re-enforces your theory (seeing as it seems to come from a pony-centric booru)
AMKitsune: Were those pineapples transformed from something/someone else?
Was there only one to begin with but was duplicated into another?
Is she yet to even use the Wabbajack on them?
AMKitsune: That lightning effect takes this from a 10 to an 11.
The whole thing's framed so well to show how truly small and powerless Rajirra and Co. are in this situation.
At least the little kitten baby doesn't seem to distressed.
AMKitsune: @Rick2tails: You clearly do not possess the feline ability to soundly sleep anywhere regardless of surface or contortion.
Some say it was a gift from the gods...
AMKitsune: fanartbooru fanart... Well there's a first
One thing I don't really understand though, is why have a landing page with these few (admittedly important) links when pretty much any gallery page already has them?
It makes a nice first impression, sure, but it also slows down access to the real meat of the site.
Eh, I'm sure there must be good reasons for these sorts of landing pages. They probably wouldn't exist otherwise.
(Not questioning your design here, just the purpose of these kinds of pages in general. In-case you weren't aware, I'm as opinionated as I am uneducated in these matters XD)
AMKitsune: Let me guess, magic yoyo that can unravel a limitless amount of string as needed?
Either that or elastic. That would make a pretty crap yoyo though...
AMKitsune: How many Dragons does it take before a place is infested with them? I'd propose 1.
Also, I love how out of place little, round faced Katia looks compared to the awesomely angular dragon.
It really helps emphasise the fact that she's really not meant to be there XD.
AMKitsune: I was just about to say something about how that's such a catty thing to do, then I checked the video and saw that it was a catty thing!
You really nailed the poses and expressions (those multiple attempts weren't in vain).
Honestly, I find your claim of being 'new to drawing' a little hard to believe. Absolute beginners generally aren't this good. (I certainly wasn't... and still aren't )
AMKitsune: I'd have to vote for vintage as well. Not only is it the most thematically fitting, but it also appears that it would stand out better against a larger variety of background images/colours.
AMKitsune: @furnut: Woah, woah, woah... Hold on there. You're saying that was a sketch? Does that mean you're planning on doing even more with it?
(because it's already awesome as it is. Anything additional would just make it even better!)
AMKitsune: When I woke up and checked my tablet this morning, I thought the thumbnail for this was a 3d render. Even now, I'm not all that surprised by my initial reaction.
This is good. Scary good.
AMKitsune: @Toxic: If I may make a small suggestion, The 'popup notifications' for things like exp gains and level ups fly by incredibly fast in the video, making them hard to read if you're not expecting them (I had to rewind the video and pause it to read them).
My suggestion would be to slow down the movement of these notifications and possibly have them opaque for longer.
That should help make them easier to read.
AMKitsune: @bluedraggy: Don't be so silly. Chocolate Argonians don't move (or talk or 'fwip' for that matter either), unless that previous statement was a lie of course...
AMKitsune: @Toxic: Assuming you're working with actionscript3, try looking up 'shared object' tutorials. They're probably one of, if not the easiest ways of saving and loading data with flash.
AMKitsune: @Asa_of_elswher: I did not know that
Then again, that's why "what other games have raised me to believe" was added in there. Games are often full of inaccuracies that end up being accepted as common knowledge.
That aside though, what sorts of things do you make? The only experience I have with blacksmithing is watching things like that 'man at arms' youtube show where they make pop-culture weapons and armour (which instantly makes you at least 100 times more qualified to handle glowing metal than myself XD).
AMKitsune: @Asperger_kitten_1337: I didn't actually feature this, although I am a big fan of featuring older content. Gives older pieces a second chance in the limelight, so to speak.
AMKitsune: @Toxic: If I may, the colourations of these steel and iron weapons are currently the opposite of what other games have raised me to believe. Isn't iron weaponry usually portrayed as the darker metal and steel as lighter?
Also speaking of colour, the Daedric weapons kind of look like iron as well. Perhaps making them darker (near black maybe) would help differentiate them? If nothing else, it would help the red highlights pop.
@Kazerad: Now I'm imagining a mace made entirely of glued together gold coins.
AMKitsune: Was this made within the game engine itself? If so, I'm looking forward to trying this even more now.
It's like the comic's old walk-around flash's, but this time with actual gameplay mechanics!
One thing that concerns me slightly though is how the text looks like it's pixels have been distorted (like when you shrink pixel-art by an awkward number). It doesn't make it impossible to read, just harder than it should be.
AMKitsune: I like to imagine that that's a mug of hot chocolate... and that it's snowing outside. Is there any better time for hot chocolate than when it's snowing? Not that I know of.
AMKitsune: I wouldn't want to kill the tumblespider either.
By virtue of the fact that it hasn't spoken or acted against Katia, doesn't that make it potential friend material by default?
AMKitsune: ...I just noticed. Katia has a 'sky-blue' tooth. That's what happens when you eat weird, alchemical ingredients and don't brush your teeth afterwards.
AMKitsune: Huh, wow. Normally, I wouldn't think something as stylised as this would work as a Katia picture (you know how when a character's drawn in such a stylised manor that they no longer resemble the original character they were meant to be any-more?), yet it really does. Stylisticly unique and easily recognisable at the same time. Fantastic work.
AMKitsune: @furnut: Oooohhhh, why much you always draw such adorable Katias? You've mastered the cute in a way that few others have.
Also, thanks for unknowingly giving me a prime opportunity to do a Bluedraggy (without shading).
(I actually tried colouring the lines this time, instead of just turning them completely black. Not really sure if it made much of a difference. It's too late at night for me to really tell XD)
